Manipur board class 12 exam 2024 result declared; creates history with record pc

Manipur education (S) director L Nandakumar on Monday announced the result for Class 12 exam, 2024, conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) with a historic pass percentage of 97.63.

Amid the ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur, the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Examination was conducted by COHSEM from February 21, 2024 onwards.

Addressing the exam declaration function held at COHSEM office, L Nandakumar said that the exam was conducted amid high tension in the state however, the pass percentage was a historic 97.63 percent.

"It is the first time in the history of Manipur that the pass percentage is 97.63 percent", said L Nandakumar, adding that in Science, the pass percentage is 98.91 percent, 94.35 percent in Arts and 93.51 percent in Commerce.

Last year, the pass percentage was 88.68 while in 2022 the pass percentage was 90.09.

Government Higher Secondary Schools achieved a commendable pass percentage of 95.49 while private higher secondary schools surpassed this with a pass rate of 98.18%.

The breakdown of pass percentages by district is as follows: Thoubal District led with 99.58% followed closely by Bishnupur District at 99.19% while Imphal-East and Imphal-West districts reported pass percentages of 99.02% and 98.92% respectively. Other districts also performed well, with Chandel at 95.60%, Churachandpur at 93.98%, Jiribam at 95.26%, Kakching at 98.25%, Kamjong Dat 98.68%, Kangpokpi at 97.44%, Noney at97.51%, Senapati at 92.26%, Tamenglong at 93.44%, Tengnoupal at 97.21% and Ukhrul reporting the lowest pass percentage at 85.95%.

A total of 31,128 students appeared in the exam, out of it 30391 passed. Of the total results declared, 20,498 secured first division, 8,498 students were placed in the second division while 1331 in the third division; the remaining 17 were withheld due to incomplete submission of report while three students were cancelled.

The exam declaration was attended by COHSEM chairman T Ojit, COHSEM secretary Kh Ashikumar ans O Joy, controller of examinations, COHSEM.
