Athletes of Manipur on Wednesday came out in support of the World Meetei Council’s protest being held in demand for the inclusion of Meetei in the ST list.
Players participating in the tournament held at Lamjao Football ground in Kakching district, extended solidarity to the protest, chanting various slogans, prior to the match, stated a release.
Protesting players shouted slogans saying ‘We condemn blackmail of Meetei ST by the Chief Minister’, ‘Inclusion in ST List is the only way to save Meeteis’ and ‘send the two needed reports before the ensuing MP Election’ etc.,it stated.
President of WMC Manipur Unit, Urikkhimbam Kunjo; Joint Secretary WMC Manipur Unit, Elangbam Brojenkumar, leaders of Pole Star Development Union (PSDU) and many players took part in the protest, it added.
