Manipur Assembly condoles passing of leaders

Manipur Legislative Assembly members shared their condolence messages for the departed souls on the first day of the third session of the House.

On the first day of the third session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly on Thursday, members of the House, including the Leader of the House and Opposition leader, participated in obituary reference to five former members of the House and two former secretaries of the House.

Seven MLAs, including Opposition leaders, shared their condolence messages for the departed souls during the ongoing session.

The names of the politicians are former member of the 2nd Manipur Territorial Assembly from Sagolmang assembly constituency, M Ibohal Singh; former member of the 2nd Manipur Legislative Assembly from Wangjing Tentha assembly constituency, Ibomcha Sapam; former member of 7th Manipur Legislative Assembly from Nambol assembly constituency, Th Bira Singh; former member of 4th, 5th and 8th Manipur Legislative Assembly from Hiyanglam assembly constituency, E Biramani Singh and former member of 3rd and 5th Manipur Legislative Assembly from Khurai assembly constituency, Chandam Manihar Singh.

The names of the two former secretaries of the Manipur Legislative Assembly are IS Laishram and and RK Chinglensana Singh.

Leader of the House, Chief Minister N Biren Singh, said the five politicians had contributed greatly for the welfare of their respective assembly constituencies as well as for the state. Their demise is a great loss not only for the House but also for the state, the CM said, condoling the demise of the seven members.

Opposition leader Okram Ibobi Singh said the demise of the five politicians is a great loss for the House. He said the politicians had shared valuable suggestions, ideas and thoughts to him. All the politicians were sincere, simple and were great politicians, he added.

Ibobi also expressed that during the period of former secretaries, the two had guided several important sessions. Their demise is a great loss for the House, he added.

Other members of the House, including MLAs Thongam Shanti, T Brojen, Y Radheshyam, opposition MLA Th Lokeswor and minister Y Susindro also shared condolences during the motion.

Speaker Th Satyabrata also expressed sorrow on the demise of the five former members of the House and two former secretaries which was followed by a two-minutes silence in honour of the departed souls.
