Manipur ASHA workers yet to receive state government incentive

ASHA workers have been waiting for the remuneration since April 2021, All Manipur ASHA’s Worker Union general secretary AK Thoibi Devi said.

The All Manipur Accredited Social Health Activist (Asha) Workers’ Union on Saturday urged the state government to issue the tentative order for payment of Rs 1,000 as a state government incentive which was announced by the spokesperson of the present government, Manipur after taking cabinet decision.

Addressing the press at Manipur Press Club, general secretary of All Manipur ASHA’s Worker Union AK Thoibi Devi said that the announcement came despite the assurance of Rs 1,000 incentive from the Central government for testing and tracing Covid-19 patients. Asha workers have been waiting for the remuneration since April 2021, she said.

She also urged the state government to consider qualified ASHA Workers of Manipur at the time of appointment of facilitator. She said the 10 years’ experience as an ASHA worker with one to seven modules up to four rounds ASHA certification holders are the long-term sufferers and should be qualified for appointment of ASHA facilitators under the government of Manipur.

She also urged for payment of uniform money of the ASHA workers from this running month. She said that the uniform allowances are given by the government of India, including charges for washing and others.
