Manipur: Arms seized, UG cadres arrested

The Police Control Room, Manipur Police on Sunday stated that search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts.

During the search operations, one 9mm Carbine Machine Gun with one Magazine, one 9mm Pistol with one Magazine, one .22 Pistol with one Magazine, seven live rounds ammunition were seized from IT road, Kangpokpi district, stated a release.

On Sunday, Manipur Police arrested one cadre of Pambei led UNLF identified as Asem Nabachandra Meitei, 41, from MI Road, Imphal West, it mentioned. Further one .32 Pistol along with magazine and nine live ammunition were seized, it said.

On Saturday, Security Forces recovered arms and ammunition from Island Village. It was recovered from seven miscreants who later escaped, taking advantage of a mob-like situation, it mentioned.

One INSAS Rifle 5.56 mm along with one magazine, one INSAS LMG, one .303 Rifle with magazine, one SBBL 12-bore gun, one Binocular, one Khukri with cover, one 12-bore ammunition belt and 59 ammunition, it stated.  A case has been registered for further investigation, it mentioned.

On Friday, Manipur Police arrested three active members of proscribed PREPAK organisation from Thangal Bazar, Imphal West. The arrested persons are Konthoujam Kumar Singh, 46, Ankur Mahawar, 40, Naveen Mahawar, 48.

From their possession, three mobile phones and Rs 1,90,000 in cash were seized, it mentioned. They were involved in extortion cases, it added.

On Thursday, Manipur Police arrested Haorungbam Pamnganba alias Makak, 24, for illegal possession of magazine and ammunition from Singjamei Chingamakhong, Imphal West.

From his possession, one magazine, ten live ammunition and one mobile handset were seized, it said. During the last 24 hours, the situation in the State was under control, it added.
