A combined team of Churachandpur District Police and 36 AR recovered arms and ammunition during a combing operation at Songpi village, Churachandpur.
The undernoted items were seized from the jungle area of Songpi village, Churachandpur; they are 01 (one) 12G shotgun b/no.24788A/9, 01 (one) .22 automatic rifle with magazine, nine Single barrel rifle, one country made 9mm pistol with magazine, two improvised mortars, one improvised mortar bomb, six improvised mortar bomb loader, one Kenwood radio set, 10 12 bore rounds and five 9mm rounds.
Meanwhile, the Manipur Police arrested one MD Zahid Khan, 34 son of (L) Md Nasimuddin of Haoreibi Mayai Leikai, Thoubal district from Martyrs Park, Mao for illicit trafficking of suspected Brown Sugar.
He was arrested in possession with a total of 111.80 gm of suspected brown sugar from 10 soap caps and were seized by the authorities. A case has been registered at Mao PS for further investigation, stated a release issued by the Police control room on Thursday.
Arms and ammunition were also recovered during search operations and area domination conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts. One 7.62mm AK-56 Rifle with magazine, two 12-inch Single Bore Barrel Rifles and ten 7.62mm live rounds from Kangpokpi district.
It said that movement of 194 and 216 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles.
A total of 141 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hills and the valley and Police detained 250 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state, it stated.

Any circulation of unfounded videos etc may be confirmed from the rumour free number - 9233522822 of Central Control room. Further, an appeal is made to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately, it added.
