Manipur: Arms, ammunition recovered in Bishnupur

A combined team of Bishnupur District police along with 2 MAHAR, 16 BSF conducted patrolling, area domination, cordon and search operations in the suspected areas.

Caches of arms and explosives were recovered during a search operation carried out along the foothills of Dampi ridge in the adjoining areas of Lailampat and Leitanpokpi Muslim under PGCI PS.

A combined team of Bishnupur District police along with 2 MAHAR, 16 BSF conducted patrolling, area domination, cordon and search operations in the suspected areas from 11.45 am till 2 pm. During the operation, arms and ammunition were recovered from the foothills of the Dampi range.

The recovered items are two modified 6-inch Mortar tube (Country Made Pompi), 11 live Pompi rounds, 10 fired pompi case, one 7.62 mm SLR alongwith 1(one) Mag, four 7.62 live rds and 11 fired 7.62 empty case, one 9 mm Pistol with one empty mag, two 12 Bore Single barrel gun, two 36 HE Hand Grenade without detonator, one Chinese Hand Grenade, one WP Smoke Grenade, two Bicart strip (15 cm each) and six WT Set with one charger.

A team of Thoubal District Police also conducted a house to house search operation at Yairipok Siphai Leikai areas from 5.45 am till 7.10 am on Thursday. During the operation about 50 houses were searched and about 120 persons were verified. No arrest or recovery was made.
