Manipur: Abducted persons rescued, seven arrested

Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts, the Manipur Police stated.

The Police Control Room, Manipur Police on Monday rescued an abduction victim and arrested two individuals involved in the abduction and extortion case.

The arrested persons are Md Juma Khan, 34, and Ram Bahadur Khadkar, 44, from Imphal East, stated a release.

Further in another case, Manipur Police rescued another kidnapped person at Thoubal and arrested five individuals, it stated.  

The are Khoirom Sanathoi Meitei, 23, Thokchom Mothomar Meitei, 18, Laisharam Ahendrajit Meitei, 31, Phandom Ango Singh, 18, Haorokcham Chitranjan Singh, 31, it mentioned.

During the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was under control, it said.

During the search operations, one 22 Rifle, 39 live ammunitions, seven blank cartridge, 28 ILLUM JMK ammunition, 20 MK 12 T ammunition, 15 HE Hand Grenades, seven tube launching, one magazine box, one walkie talkie set with charger, one Tripal plastic blue in colour from Champhai Hill, Imphal East, were seized.

Manipur Police arrested two individuals namely Md Nurhaman alias Nurahaman, 51, and Ibem, both residents of Kwakta, Bishnupur from Terakhongsangbi, Bishnupur District.

Further from their possession, suspected Opium weighing 5.587 kgs. and brown colored powder (suspected to be brown sugar/heroin) weighing 1.006 kgs were seized, it stated.

In another case, the Manipur Police arrested two individuals identified as Khaying Longvah, 44, of Ukhrul and Ngahanyui Kashung, 37, of Kamjong from Khabeisoi, Imphal East District. Further from their possession, suspected contraband heroin powder weighing about 1 Kg and 1 car were seized.

Movement of 317 and 269 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-02 respectively with essential items has been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it stated.

It further said that a total of 130 nakas/checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 288 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state.

It appealed to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. Any circulations of unfounded videos etc. may be confirmed from the rumour free number 9233522822 of Central Control room. Further, an appeal is made to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately, it added.
