Manipur: Abducted Army officer rescued

An Army subedar was abducted by miscreants at gunpoint from his residence in Thoubal district, Manipur on Friday.

An Army subedar who was abducted by miscreants at gunpoint from his residence in Charangpat Mamang Leikai under the jurisdiction of Yairipok police station, Thoubal district on Friday was later rescued.

As per sources, the abducted subedar has been identified as Konsam Kheda, 40, son of Rajmani who is currently posted at Orissa and on holiday at home. He was abducted from his residence by 10 miscreants at gunpoint who came in two Bolero cars at around 8 am, said sources.

Family members of the victim submitted a complaint report to Yairipok Police Station regarding the incident. Thoubal district police conducted search operations on the routes that the miscreants might have fled.

He was later rescued safely by a team of Thoubal district police with assistance from Kakching district police from an area of Waikhong in Kakching district. Reasons for the abduction remain unknown.
