Miscreants shot a man on the leg at Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi Idigah road in Thoubal district under the jurisdiction of Lilong Police station road at around 11.40 pm on Sunday.
Md Abdul Latif alias Ningthem, 54, son of late Md Habibulah from Kwakta Khunou Ward No IV sustained bullet injury on the calf of his right leg. He is undergoing treatment at Noor Hospital Lilong.
A team of Thoubal district police rushed to the site of the shooting after receiving information about the incident and conducted a search operation in the area. One empty case suspected to be 9 mm ammunition was found during the search.
The police team also conducted search operations at around 16 houses and about 30 persons, including females, were checked and verified. No arrests were made.
