Miscreants who identified themselves as Imphal East commandos on Saturday allegedly threatened the family of United Committee Manipur (UCM) HRD secretary Rk Mangisana and physically assaulted his younger brother Rk Raju at their residence at Wangjing Purna Heituppokpi, Thoubal district.

In a press meet at his residence on Sunday Rk Mangisana said that four individuals in casual clothes who identified themselves as commandos of Imphal East police came to his residence at around 7 pm of Saturday and threatened his family.

The miscreants rounded up his younger brother Rk Raju alias Inao, 42, son of late Rk Ningthempishak from Wangjing Purana Heiruppokpi and beat him up, Mangisana added. The miscreants also robbed all his possessions including his mobile phone, jewelleries and money, he continued. The press meet was attended by members of the local Meira Paibis, clubs and organisations.

Speaking at the event, Rk Raju recalled that the miscreants arrived at his residence in a white Swift car without registration number around 7 pm. All four of them cover their faces with masks, he mentioned. He alleged that after the miscreants showed an ID card and identified themselves as commandos of Imphal East police, they forced him in their car at gunpoint.

He further alleged that they blindfolded him and physically assaulted him while asking nonsensical questions.

“They accused me of involving in black trades and owning a gun, and also asked why my Scorpio car was white in colour while I registered it as red in the documents,” Raju recalled.

He alleged that the miscreant robbed all his possessions including his mobile phone, jewelleries along with cash of Rs 35,000, beat him up and left him at the foot of the hill.

Raju recalled that after he regained his strength and removed his blindfold, he found himself alone in the dark. He continued that he got up and headed towards the nearest house he could find, and sought help from the residents and called his brother Rk Mangisana. He added that the residents told him that he was at Uyal Khunou.

Rk Mangisana condemned the incident and mentioned that he was not present at his residence during the time of the incident. Drawing the attention of the authorities concerned, he urged the Imphal East commandos to address the issue officially.
