Man held for stealing copper from Khongjom War Memorial pillar

The person is identified as 27-year-old Thokchom Johnson, son of Shyamtombi of Samaram Mamang Leikai.

Khongjom IB Police outpost personnel and women of the area apprehended a person who allegedly stole copper plates from the Khongjom War Memorial Pillar erected on Kheba hill.

The person is identified as 27-year-old Thokchom Johnson, son of Shyamtombi of Samaram Mamang Leikai. He was caught red handed by the police and women at around 11 am.

Khongjom IB police outpost, Post commander Sub Inspector Y Shankardas said that police have been on the lookout for the robbers as there had been a similar incident on June 24. Upon investigation, Johnson revealed that the previous stealing was also carried out by him.

The stolen plate was recovered from the place where Johnson sold it off and has been handed over to the members of the Integrated Mega Tourist Centre by the police.
