One man from Tengnoupal district has been arrested and suspected heroin powder weighing 146.1 grams seized from his possession at Khangabok under Thoubal Police Station, police sources said on Tuesday.

Police said the arrested person has been identified as one Suantak Lalkhuma Vaiphei, 37, son of St Lamneimang Vaiphei of Moreh Ward No 2, Tengnoupal district.
The arrest took place around 4.30 pm Monday following a tipoff by 16 Assam Rifles when Suantak was coming in a silver colour Maruti Eco Van with registration No MN03P1920 from Khangabok, police said.

A team of CDO Thoubal led by O Wangkhomba, Addl SP (Ops) Thoubal, assisted by Inspt N Sadananda Singh OC/CDO, under the supervision of Jogeschandra Haobijam, SP Thoubal arrested the man.
They also seized 11 soap cases containing suspected heroin powder weighing 146.1 grams from his possession.
The arrested person and the seized items, including the vehicle, have been handed over to the Thoubal Police Station and a case has been registered for further investigation, police said.
