A man was found dead in a mysterious circumstance at Lanva River in Churachandpur town around 10:30 am Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Lammuanthang (33), husband of Thiankim of Daijang Village, Churachandpur.
Following the circulation of the lifeless photo, his family members and police rushed to the spot. He was found wearing only socks and underwear at Lanva River near Val Veng, New Lamka.
A cut mark was found on his right wrist, injury on both knees and minor scratch marks on his body.
After taking his body to their village, the family members decided not to file an FIR following an agreement with the authority.
Sources said that the deceased had a history of using drugs but was not the kind of person to quarrel with others and was working as a daily wage worker. He is survived by his wife, one son and four daughters.
From the place where the body was found, police found blood stained pants but could not find the rest of the clothes he had worn.
His wife said that on Friday they went shopping and were separated around 12 noon, as her husband wanted to go elsewhere.
It was the last time she met him and having failed to return home in the evening, the family began searching for him.
