Man arrested with suspected heroin in Imphal East

Police team detected Md Ramijuddin holding a black polythene bag with 24 vials containing suspected heroin powders.

A 42-year-old man in possession of 10 grams of suspected heroin powder was arrested by a team of Irilbung police station at Kiyamgei Mamang Leikai in Imphal East on Sunday.

According to police, a team of Irilbung police conducted a random frisking and checking at Kiyamgei Mamang Leikai and detected a suspicious person who ran away on seeing the police team. The team caught the person and detained him for verification, it added.

It informed that the individual was identified as Md Ramijuddin, 42 son of Late Md Khomei from Kiyamgei Muslim Oinam Loukol. “After a magistrate was informed, the team conducted a search of the individual in the presence of an executive magistrate. The search was conducted in front of a civilian witness,” it read.

The team detected Md Ramijuddin holding a black polythene bag with 24 vials containing suspected heroin powders. “The team seized the items from his possession around 4.40 pm and weighed the items in the presence of the magistrate and the civil witness. The items weighed around 10 grams excluding the weight of the vials,” it stated.

It continued that the team arrested the individual at Kiyamgei Mamang Leikai at 4.50 pm by observing the proper formalities. The police registered a case under FIR no 93(10) 2022 IBG-PS U/s 21 (b) ND&PS Act for further investigation.
