Churachandpur district police on Tuesday arrested a man with a Taiwan-made 4.5 mm pistol from Churachandpur area.
The police said they received information of the man who was moving around in the area for a few months with an intent to harass/threaten the general public thereby creating fear psychosis among the general public.
Acting on the information, a team of CCP-PS comprising SI T Lalbiakmuan, ASI T Pauliansiam and ASI Muanthianlal, under the supervision of senior officers, swung into action and located the suspected person at Pangzawl village near COC Cemetery, Churachandpur travelling in a red Chevrolet SSRV Optra car with registration No MN01G-9236.
When stopped, the individual identified himself as Paolianmang Misao (27), son N Ngamkholun of D Phailien village, Churachandpur and on checking, the police found a Taiwan-made 4.5 mm pistol with body No.16A43316; one live 9 mm round; a black Realme Narzo phone; one fake Aadhar card in the name of Thongkhopao Lhungdim. The said items and the vehicle were seized at the spot.
The individual was arrested at 2:20 pm after observing formalities.
On preliminary interrogation, the individual stated that he had harassed and threatened the general public by displaying the small arms openly in public places and also forged a fake Aadhar card for the purpose of cheating. Further, he stated that he had fraudulently cheated many people of their hard-earned money with false promises.
The arrested individual and the seized items were taken to CCP-PS for further investigation and a case under FIR NO.149(9)2022 CCP-PS u/s 468/506/420 IPC and 25(1-C) has been registered for further investigation.
