MAHUD Minister Yumnam Khemchand extends Gandhi Jayanti greetings

“On this auspicious day I appeal to the people of the state to shun violence and follow the path of peace and non-violence as advocated by the Father of the Nation”

MAHUD Minister Yumnam Khemchand extended wishes on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti which falls on October 2.

The minister said in his message that Gandhi Jayanti is an event celebrated in India to mark the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi.

The UN General Assembly announced on June 15, 2007 and declared that October 2 will be celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence recognising his non-violence freedom. He is also known as the “Father of The Nation” and  this title was given to him by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose for his relentless struggles for independence, he added.

“On this auspicious day I appeal to the people of the state to shun violence and follow the path of peace and non-violence as advocated by the Father of the Nation”, he wished.
