The Kangleipak Students’ Association (KSA) on Thursday alleged MAHUD minister and commissioner of failing to renew the recruitment process for various posts recruitment under MAHUD, and demanded their resignation.
Speaking to the media at KSA office, Imphal, general secretary Sanjoy Khullakpam alleged that unfair practices were being employed in the recruitment process for assistant town planner and assistant architect of the Town Planning department under MAHUD.
“KSA had lodged a complaint regarding the matter to Manipur chief secretary and MAHUD minister May 7 but no actions were taken,” he said.
He stated that the recruitment process should be done under MPSC but that was not done. “MAHUD cited the absence of a MPSC chairman as the reason for the direct recruitment and carried out the process by conducting only an interview,” he said.
He maintained that the hasty nature of the recruitment without following the proper guidelines hinted at favouritism and nepotism. This was not the case in the recruitment of PWD Assistant architect, he added.
He noted that a written test followed by an interview should be the rightful recruitment channel as the posts were gazetted posts.
He further stated that the department’s failure to follow the recruitment guidelines showed the government’s lack of accountability to abide by the rules.
