Sagolband United had a comfortable 4-0 win over Football Club Gorkha XI Manipur with Lunminthang's brace in the 20th, and 49th minutes and Shunjanthan and Adison's goals in the 29th and 79th minutes respectively in the last second pre-quarterfinal league matches today.
The win secured a quarterfinal berth for the Sagolband side.
The last pre-quarterfinal league match between Satkhohen and Sumkhomang Memorial Team (SSMT) and TYPOM Maohing ended in a 2-2 draw.
Lenboilun (15'), and Lenminlal (71') scored for SSMT while Kaikam (33'), and Kamminlun (79') scored for TYPOM Maohing.
The draw earned SSMT a quarterfinal berth while sacking the Maohing side.
The remaining time of the YOSC Khurai and Taphou FC match was played today and the match ended in a 3-3 draw earning YOSC Khurai a quarterfinal berth and Taphou FC packed their bags.
Earlier, in their match, Taphou FC had led the game 3-1 till the first half before the Khurai side came back with the equalizers in the second half.
A scuffle had occurred after the central referee booked Taphou FC defender for a handball and was awarded a penalty kick in favour of YOSC Khurai as Taphou FC strongly denied the handball.
The organizing committee finally intervened and decided to conduct the remaining match beginning with the penalty.
The remaining match begins today with the penalty and it was beautifully converted by Ibotomba in the 77th minute to seal the game 3-3.
Earlier, Thangkhanlen (12'), Sehthang (22'), and Lunginthang (27') scored for Taphou FC while Changwung S (1'), and K. Aboton Singh (61') scored for the Khurai side before Ibutomba's penalty goal today.
With the end of the pre-quarterfinal league round, altogether eight teams entered the quarterfinals which will begin tomorrow.
KSC emerged as group A winner with TASA as runner-up, KLASA Keinou emerged as group B winner with SSMT runner-up, Symropia Churachandpur emerged as group C winner with KFA(J) as runner-up though with similar point and goal difference while Sagolband United emerged as group D winner with YOSC Khurai as runner-up.
Tomorrow, in the first quarterfinals, KLASA Keinou will play Twilang Area Sporting Association (TASA) in the first match while KSC will clash with SSMT in the second match.
