In continuation of the Lamshang Khongchat (Long March for National Regeneration) the second day of the long march was launched from Sekmai by secretary, Schedule Caste Development Committee Usham Johnson on Thursday.
The long march was organised by Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) with the motto ‘Justice, Equality, Peace and Progress’.
A press note issued and signed by convenor, publicity subcommittee long march for national regeneration, MAYOL L James mentioned that the womenfolks, students, youths of Sekmai area were accompanied along with the volunteers of MAYOL to the community hall of Khurkhul Makha Leikai, Imphal West that during the march.
A meeting was also conducted in which Leihaothabam Saratchandra delivered his speech. Afterwards, the volunteers of MAYOL were accompanied by Village Protection Force, women organisations, Khurkhul Protection Committee to Akham Ground, Imphal East.
At Akham Ground, Thiyam Bhagat, Hemanta Kumar Ningomba and others delivered their speeches.
The long march which was accompanied by locals of Akham continued from Akham Ground to Praja Higher Secondary School, Lamshang.
A large number of people who were on the roadside encouraged the volunteers and participants of the long march.
For Friday, the long march will resume from Lamshang and will culminate at Nambol. It appealed to the people to cooperate and encourage the volunteers of MAYOL and the participants.
