Voting in Thoubal and Kakching districts, Manipur were conducted in a free, fair and peaceful manner in most of the polling stations of the districts in the first phase of the 18th Lok Sabha election held on Friday.
Voter turnout in the six polling stations of Thoubal district was about 55 per cent. However, the morning hours saw only 15 voters coming out to cast their votes in some polling stations till 10 am. However, by the end of the day, the female voter turnout was more than male voters.
Out of the six assembly constituencies of Thoubal district, 30- Lilong, 31- Thoubal AC and 32- Wangkhem AC are for the inner Manipur parliamentary constituency while 33- Heirok, 34- Wangjing- Tentha and 35- Khanagbok are for the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
Two special polling stations were opened for the internally displaced persons at YK College Wangjing and Rice Research Station Khanagbok. Women polling personnel were on duty at all 40 polling stations of Thoubal district and 18 model polling stations, including three each in the six ACs of the district were also opened.
According to the final electoral roll 2024, total number of voters for Thoubal district is 2,04, 520 which include 99,243 men, 1, 05, 262 women, 15 transgenders and 1,287 people with disabilities. 4403 voters were first time voters and 1002 were senior voters above 85 years.
