Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Poll training concludes

A total number of 192 female polling personnel attended the training session in Kangpokpi district.

District election officer Mahesh Chaudhari on Saturday conducted a press briefing at the conference hall, DC office complex, Kangpokpi district.

Addressing the press briefing, he said that the first-round training for polling personnel for the ensuing 18th Lok Sabha Elections, 2024 has been successfully concluded. He also highlighted the high number of female polling stations, numbering 77 in total.

He highlighted the activities, preparedness and progress made by the nodal officers concerned in connection to the election. He informed that the district election team is ensuring application of postal ballot for service voters, updation on PwD voters list, finalising of communication plan, procurement of necessary EVMs and poll related material from election office.

Highlighting the importance of maintaining a level playing field under the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) to ensure fairness among all parties, he said that steps have been taken to deface wall painting in both public and private spaces in line with the Model Code of Conduct.

Additionally, he said that preparations have been made for the EMTs team, the Magistrate and District Police. He said the activities of Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral participation (SVEEP) programme have been actively promoting voters education in school, college and relief centres to encourage voters to come out in maximum numbers to vote. The press briefing was also attended by the Nodal Officers of the district.

Meanwhile, the training programme conducted in connection to the 18th Lok Sabha Elections, 2024 for the Polling Personnel concluded on Saturday at the Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council (SH-ADC), Kangpokpi District.

A total number of 192 female polling personnel attended the training session conducted by experienced trainers – Deputy DEO/SDO T Waichong Lamminlal Simte, AC to DC Samuel Misao, SDO Island and Lhungtin S Plim Reikhenamai, SDO K Geljang and Bungte Chiru Md Hefajuddin among others.

In connection with the ensuing General Elections to the 18th Lok Sabha 2024, the District Medical Board of Bishnupur under the leadership of chief medical officer Dr L Raichandra Singh, conducted a meticulous examination of polling personnel seeking exemption from election duty on medical grounds.

The board, comprising a diverse team of specialists including a senior psychiatrist, an orthopaedic surgeon, a senior surgeon, an ENT surgeon, an ophthalmologist, an MD in medicine, and a gynaecologist, evaluated each case with due diligence.

99 polling personnel, 47 male and 52 female underwent the comprehensive assessment by the medical board.

The entire procedure was carried out in the conference hall of the DC Office, Mini Secretariat, Bishnupur, with the district election officer and the additional district election officer overseeing the process to ensure transparency and fairness.
