In an election meeting held on Monday at the Multipurpose Hall in Tamenglong, M Asnikumar Singh, senior spokesperson of BJP Manipur Pradesh and Prabhari of Manipur Outer Constituency, asserted that the ongoing Lok Sabha Election in Manipur is a decisive confrontation between communal politics and the development agenda championed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The event, organised as a part of the election campaign for the NDA’s candidate, K Timothy Zimik (NPF), witnessed the presence of prominent political leaders from the NDA alliances, Awangbow Newmai, Minister and state president NPF; K Timothy Zimik, the candidate; Khasum Vashum, Minister (NPF); M Asnikumar Singh, Chairman, LDA, Senior Spokesperson and Prabhari (Outer PC) BJP Manipur Pradesh; Janghemlung Panmei, MLA (NPP); Kikhonbou Newmai (Ex-MLA) NPP; Khangthonang Panmei, Ex-MLA (NPF); district presidents of BJP, NPF, NPP; Poujan Gonmei, vice president UNC; community and religious leaders; and key members from Tamenglong, Nungba, and Tamei constituencies.

Addressing the gathering, K Timothy Zimik reiterated his commitment to fostering peace and development in Manipur under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He expressed gratitude to PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Minister N Biren Singh for their support and pledged to prioritize the development of underdeveloped areas in the state.

In his speech, Asnikumar Asnikumar said, “under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and CM N Biren Singh, the government has delivered various welfare, development and infrastructure projects not only in Tamenglong but across the state. Things that never happened in decades of Congress Party’s rule. From improved road connectivity to alleviating the perennial challenge of drinking water scarcity in Tamenglong, we are on a path of progress and welfare. You can reach Imphal in less than 20 minutes on a helicopter these days. Presently, Tamenglong’s oranges boast global market access, heralding numerous entrepreneurial prospects, particularly for our women and youth”.

He reminded that it was BJP under the stewardship of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee that established the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Ministry of DoNER to give a special focus on the Northeastern states. Despite decades of being at the helm of nation building, the Congress party failed to implement a single policy for the region. Meanwhile, under the leadership of PM Modi, BJP is bringing opportunities to the people of the Northeast. Beyond development, PM Modi is also showcasing our rich culture and history to every corner of our nation and the world. Rani Gaidinliu’s valour and sacrifices are now taught in schools across the nation. Before BJP, our state, its history and culture were neglected, but all that has changed now.

He stressed that, “The Congress party will always make empty promises, such as the ‘Look East’ policy, but it was the visionary leadership of PM Modi that turned ‘Look East’ into the ‘Act East’ policy. Under Congress’ rule, development was a trickle-down version, where the public was the last to reap the benefits. In contrast, our party is empowering the public, including women, youth, and marginalized communities - ‘Antyodaya’.”

Reflecting on the present crisis faced by the state, he added, “today, as our state grapples with a period of unrest and violence, it’s imperative to underscore that the seeds of this turmoil were sown during the reign of the Congress party. Their divisive and communal vote bank politics have led us to these challenging times. Since 1963, Congress has predominantly governed the state, yet crucial infrastructural developments such as roads, electricity, water supply, healthcare, and welfare initiatives have remained woefully inadequate.

However, significant strides have been made under BJP governance, notably within a short span. The present Lok Sabha Election is a fight between the Communal  Agenda of Congress party & Development Agenda of BJP”.

“As the parliamentary elections approach, I stand before the people of Tamenglong with a fervent appeal. In this critical juncture, as we chart the course for our collective future, I implore you to lend your unwavering support to the NDA candidate from NPF, Timothy Zimik. By throwing our weight behind Timothy Zimik, we not only affirm our commitment to the ideals of progress and development but also pave the way for a brighter tomorrow. Together, let us stand united in our resolve to propel our state forward on the path of growth and prosperity. Let us seize this opportunity to reaffirm our faith in the transformative vision of the NDA alliance and its dedication to the welfare of every citizen,” stated M Asnikumar Singh.

The election meeting culminated with the presentation of traditional shawls, symbolizing solidarity, and in a heartening display of solidarity, the dedicated party workers of BJP and its ally, NPF, affirmed their unwavering support for the NDA candidate, pledging their commitment to furthering the progress of our state and our beloved nation.
