Polling officials for the 18th Lok Sabha Election 2024, in respect of Tamenglong district, Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, were dispatched from the DC complex, Mini Secretariat Tamenglong district on Tuesday.
Polling officials and security for eight vulnerable polling stations including Makiunong, Lemta, New Lemta, Nallong, Kiulong III, Katiang, Katangam and Pumram for 52 Tamei AC were flagged off by ADM, Tamenglong Chunglenmang Haokip in the presence of SDO Tamenglong Christian Home, SDO Tamei Reene Newmai, SDO Tousem Paul Nangsha.
Altogether, there are 628 polling officials for 157 polling stations in the two Assembly segments i.e. 52 Tamei/Tousem and 53 Tamenglong AC.
In respect of Tamenglong district, there are no Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and no special polling stations.
Ahead of the dispersal of the polling teams, the strong room located at DC Office Complex was opened from 8 am onwards for dispersal of EVMs and VVPATs in the presence of AROs, nodal officers and representatives of various political parties.
The Tamenglong district will go to polls on Friday.
Polling teams for remote booths dispatched
District election office, Pherzawl dispatched the first batch of polling teams from the Dispersal Centre at Peace Ground, Tuibong on Tuesday, to ensure that polling parties for far-flung areas reach their designated polling stations well ahead of poll day for the upcoming second phase of Lok Sabha Elections.
Polling teams deputed for 16 remote polling stations under 55-Tipaimukh assembly constituency including Chingmun, Doltang and Suangphumun among others were airlifted along with EVMs in an IAF chopper from the helipad of 36 AR.
All these polling stations are located more than 260 km away from the Dispersal Centre and share poor road connectivity. In addition, polling teams for Upper Kharkhuplien, Lungthulien, Kangreng and 12 other distant polling stations also proceeded towards their respective destinations by road on Tuesday.
Earlier, Strong Room located at the DC Office complex was opened and EVMs shifted to the dispersal centre for distribution to polling teams.
The whole process was carried out in the presence of District Election Officials and political party representatives.
Polling teams for 56-Thanlon and remaining teams for 55-Tipaimukh will be dispatched by road on Wednesday. DEO Pherzawl Asish Das, additional district electoral officer and nodal officers oversaw the day’s entire activities.
