Locals demand booking of culprits involved in Singjamei hit-and-run case

Locals of Singjamei Wangma Torban Kshertri Leikai on Tuesday staged a one-day sit-in-protest demanding to book the culprits involved in hit-and-run case of one Kshetrimayum Rajesh.

Locals of Singjamei Wangma Torban Kshertri Leikai on Tuesday staged a one-day sit-in-protest demanding to book the culprits involved in hit-and-run case of one Kshetrimayum Rajesh alias Naoba, who is undergoing treatment at ICU, Shija Hospitals, Imphal.

One of the protesters, RK ongbi Rani Devi, told media that the incident occurred on the intervening night of March 4 and 5 at Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai near NRL oil pump when Rajesh, who was driving along the national highway-2 (Imphal-Moreh), was hit by an unknown four-wheeler, which fled from the spot. Since the incident, Rajesh has been undergoing treatment at ICU, Shija Hospital, she added.

Stating that the culprits involved in the incident are at large, she appealed to them to reach out to the family members of the injured and extend assistance for his treatment.

Rani said the police have been trying to nab the culprits with family members demanding the same. She also appealed to the state government to extend necessary assistance to Rajesh’s family.

The protesters held placards which read, “we demand strict investigation over Naoba alias Rajesh’s hit and run case”, “bring out the vehicle involved in the accident of Rajesh”, “we strongly condemned the hit and run case of Rajesh” and others.
