Concerning the immoral activities taken up by trans men with influence of alcohol and illicit drugs in the city area especially in the midnight, the Lamyanba Irawat Memorial Integrated Trust (LIMIT) on Wednesday cautioned of initiating action against those trans men in collaboration with the CSOs if they are found indulging in such activities.

LIMIT is a trust whose maximum members, including all its executives, are trans men.

Speaking to the media at the office of Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup in Imphal East, president of LIMIT, Malem Thongam (a trans man), said with efforts of CSOs and NGOs the rate of immemorial activities taken up by the women in the North AOC area has reduced to almost zero.

She said that unfortunately the trans men had taken over the place of those women in the North AOC area late at night, thereby portraying a bad image of trans men, which is a very small community.

Meanwhile, in almost every entertainment programme happening in the society, many trans men are seen confining themselves to indecency activities with men, she said, adding such is also an act of demoralising the women dresses which those trans men are wearing.

Pointing out that many trans men have started coming out openly and bravely in the society as trans men since the introduction of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act 2019, she said that the indecency nature of some trans men had tarnished the image of many innocent trans men.

Serving an ultimatum of three days to streamline the toxic behaviour of those transmen, she said they should be held responsible for all consequences if they are found to be still indulging in immoral activities.

Expressing dissatisfaction to witness immoral nature among the transgender, despite organising various sensitisation programmes in different areas of the state, the LIMIT president lastly appealed to all the trans men to confine to the tradition of Manipur for moving ahead towards a progressive society.

The press briefing was also attended by office bearers of Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup.
