Stressing the need to wipe out corruption and VIP culture from the state, which is a hindrance to development, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Manipur on Saturday sought support from the people of the state in all the upcoming elections.
The 10th foundation day of AAP was organised by its state unit at its office located at Yaiskul Moirangkhom in Imphal West.
Speaking to the media during the observance, activity coordinator of AAP Manipur, Bishwanath Thingam highlighted the evolution of AAP in the national capital (Delhi) starting from the India Against Corruption movement led by Anna Hazare and national convener Arvind Kejriwal.
Pointing out that AAP has been presently running its government in Delhi and Punjab by getting absolute majority with the trust gained from the public in the last 10 years, he said AAP is a party which has no tolerance for corruption.
He cited the awarding of judicial custody to the health minister of Punjab for allegedly asking for one per cent bribery from a contractor.
Such intolerance against corruption, even those carried out by its own council of ministers, shows the dedication and commitment of the party. It is the first of its kind in the history of the country, he added.
He further highlighted the Delhi governance model and immense development in the last three years under the regime of AAP which was appreciated by the UN and people from all corners.
Bishwanath also alleged that India is still facing various issues such as rampant corruption, unemployment, sky rocket of essential commodities price, poor education and health sectors despite being an independent state for more than 75 years.
Stating that the political structures of India need to be cleaned from inside, he said that it is the AAP which can be trusted to eradicate corruption, VIP culture and safeguards the rights of the citizens.
