A one-day legal awareness programme on the theme “Women Related Laws, POCSO Act, 2012 and Free Legal Aid”, organised by District Legal Services Authority Thoubal in collaboration with Legal Aid clinic Heirok and Heirok Development Club, was held at TN Memorial Academy campus in Heirok Part III on Thursday.
DLSA Thoubal chairman cum District and Session Judge Thoubal Samom Ibjen, HDC advisor retired teacher Thokchom Manglem and DLSA Thoubal panel lawyer Khoisnam Lembisana Meidingu attended the event as presidium members.
Panel lawyer Kh Lembisana Meidingu spoke on the indepth details of laws related to women and District while Session Judge Thoubal S. Ibjen spoke on POCSO Act 2012 and on how to avail free legal aid.
Legal aid Clinic Heirok coordinator W. Jiban also spoke on why the awareness programme was held and how it will help the women and children affected by the ongoing violence. Students, local club members and elderly people of the area attended the programme.
TN Memorial Academy also felicitated their meritorious students who topped in studies and sports during the programme.
