The last rites of Yengkhom Jiten from Kakching Chumnang Leikai Samballei Pareng, who was one of the two people killed by a stray bullet allegedly fired by 26 Sector Assam Rifles during the violence at Pallel Leimangai chingjin last Friday, was performed at his birthplace on Thursday.
Family members, JAC and representatives of various civil society organisations took the mortal remains of Jiten from JNIMS morgue and brought it back to his birthplace for final rites.
Many people lined up along the roadside to pay their last respects to the fallen martyr. A mass condolence ceremony was also held by residents of Kakching after Jiten’s body was brought back to his birthplace in Chumnang Leikai Samballei Pareng.
The burial ceremony of Jiten was held near Wangkhei Meiraba Poila memorial at Kakching Maning Ching.
