The World Kuki-Zo Intellectual Council (WKZIC) General Headquarters, Songpi-Lamka on Thursday alleged the proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) and Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF) of killing three Kuki youths in Ukhrul district, while the NSCN-IM reacted by stating that no ethnic blood should flow in Naga areas in the name of Meitei- Kuki-Zo ethnic conflicts.

In a release, WKZIC condemned the alleged attack at Sipijang village situated near Thowai Kuki Village, Ukhrul district on Friday, during which three villagers namely, Jamkhogin Haokip, Thangkhokai Haokip and Hollenson Baite were killed.

While some ray of peace is slowly returning to this strife-torn state, incidents of this kind will further aggravate the already worsened state to attain its worst, it stated.

“The WKZIC is all the more pained beyond expression to see the involvement of Naga Militant group, MNRF in the attack,” it alleged.

It appealed to all concerned Naga civil society organisations to approach the MNRF leadership for an understanding that their involvement can only bring regret in days to come.

It also expressed surprise over the alleged involvement of NSCN-IM in supplying weapons to Meitei militants.

Meanwhile, the NSCN-IM stated in a release on Saturday that the incident of killing near Thowai Kuki village is something it strongly condemns as it has taken place within the jurisdiction of Nagalim. Such conduct is an “unwarrantable intrusion,” it stated.

MNRF does not represent the interest and welfare of Nagas in Manipur as they are under the sponsorship of the Manipur valley based organisation, it mentioned.

“Under no circumstances the Nagas want the Meitei-Kuki-Zo violence spilled into Naga areas. No ethnic blood should flow in Naga areas in the name of Meitei- Kuki-Zo ethnic conflicts,” it added.
