Khumukcham Kaminibabu Memorial Award to be presented to Pung artist Kongkham Nilamani Singh

The first Guru Pung Jeiba Khumukcham Kaminibabu Singh Memorial Award will be presented to the Pung (traditional percussion instrument) artist Kongkham Nilamani Singh from Bam Manungkhun of Cachar district in an award ceremony on March 25.

First Guru Pung Jeiba Khumukcham Kaminibabu Singh Memorial Award will be presented to Pung artist Kongkham Nilamani Singh from Cachar district, announced Guru Pung Jeiba Khumukcham Kaminibabu Singh Memorial Trust, Lamagram Cachar Assam chairman Khumukcham Kanta Behari Singh.

He was speaking at a press meet held at his residence at Jiribam Babupara. He said that the first Guru Pung Jeiba Khumukcham Kaminibabu Singh Memorial Award will be presented to the Pung (traditional percussion instrument) artist Kongkham Nilamani Singh from Bam Manungkhun of Cachar district in an award ceremony on March 25. Kongkham Nilanami was conferred with the award as he was a trusted and loyal student of the late Khumukcham Kamini Singh, he mentioned.

The award which will be presented every two years includes cash of Rs 10,000 and a shawl, he continued.

It can be mentioned that the members of Khumukcham Kaminibabu Singh Memorial Trust include professor Haobam Nonigopal, additional chief engineer R K Gopalsana Singh, Khumukcham Kanta Behari Singh, K Bidyut Singh and CA Khumukcham Binoy Singh.
