Wangoi Football Association overcame the Young Welfare Club, Langthabal by 6-4 goals in a match of the ongoing Under-13 Khelo India Girls Football League 2023-24 played at CYLC Chingamathak Ground.
Wangoi FA found the rhythm right on Wednesday as they commanded an early lead from S Rina Devi in the 3rd minute of play. She went on to put more pressure on the Young Welfare Club with her second goal in the 8th minute.
Though outwitted in the first few minutes, the Young Welfare Club surged back with K Rashesori Devi scoring a goal in the 10th minute. However Wangoi kept the pressure on resulting in M Basanti Puja netting home the third goal in the 25th+1 minute for the lead.
The energy spurts up in the second half with both team going for the kill but it was Wangoi FA who made maximum inroads with A Bidyalaxmi striking two quick goals in the 27th and 29th minutes respectively and later S Rina Devi dig home one in the 30th minute to bring up her hat tricks goal.
But not to be outshined by its opponent, Young Welfare Club made quick moves with L Bidyalaxmi fetching two goals in the 28th and 36 minutes respectively and I Yaiphabi heading one in the 33rd minute but failed to catch up Wangoi tally for the day.
In the second match, ICSA Irengbam edged out Women Football Academy by 5-4 goals. In a keenly contested match, Women FA Kakching was enjoying the ride with 4-1 goals but ICSA caught the former napping in the second half, slamming home four goals for the victory.
For ICSA team, Nganthoi Oinam, L Rani, O Retika, I Hemapati and I Sanatombi scored a goal each while for Women FA team, W Bedanti struck two goals while Lanchenbi L and M Thadoi netted one goal each.
