The Khwairamband Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee on Saturday cautioned that activities related to Lok Sabha election, 2024, would be completely banned in Manipur till the crisis was resolved.

Those defying the orders would be met with stringent actions, they warned.

Speaking to the media at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal convenor of the committee Laishram Memma stated that the present turmoil was one of the hardest obstacles the state had witnessed in the last few decades.

“We can even say its even greater than the seven years devastation. But the government is far from responsive to the turmoil and the sufferings,” he said.

She demanded authorities to spill out their shortcomings and agendas if they are unable to rein in the crisis.

As such, she cautioned that all election-related activities would be banned and any person indulging in such activities would be met with dire consequences.

“The killing has not stopped even amid the government’s assurance and as such, no actions disrupting the activities of village volunteers will be tolerated,” she said.

She further cautioned that the women of Manipur would not remain silent if authorities clamp down village volunteers.
