A combined team of 36th Assam Rifles and Churachandpur police on Wednesday apprehended one overground worker of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) near Sangaikot police station in Churachandpur district.
According to sources, based on reliable information about a suspected armed overground worker of KCP traveling from Sugnu to Churachandpur in a passenger Tata Winger bearing registration number MN05C0831, the combined team of 36th Assam Rifles Sangaikot COB and Sangaikot Police established a Motor Vehicle Check Point (MVCP) and conducted frisking and checking operation in front of the Sangaikot Police Station gate from 12 pm.
At 2 pm, the team intercepted the Tata Winger and apprehended one Ksh Rabi Singh son of late Tombi Singh from Kongnang Lambai Pereng of Om Shanti Line in Kakching, in possession of a 0.22 pistol along with four live rounds, it informed.
It mentioned that the team arrested the individuals and seized the items at 2.25 pm in front of the Sangaikot police station. A case under FIR No 36(03)2023 CCP-PS u/s 20 UA(P)Act, 25(1-C) Arms Act has been registered for investigation, it added.
