Kangpokpi District Youth Festival 2022 ends

Contest prizes were distributed to winners at the closing function of the Kangpokpi District Youth Festival 2022.

The Kangpokpi District Youth Festival 2022 organised by the Nehru Yuva Kendra and the Kuki Students' Organization Saikul as a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav ended successfully on Monday at Saikul Sub Divisional Headquarters.

The closing ceremony of the district youth festival that began on October 6 was graced by the local MLA Kimneo Haokip Hangshing as Chief Guest while SDO/SDM Saikul Bhungba Maibam Khuman, MCS and Deputy Inspector of Schools, Saikul Seiminlal Hangshing attended as Guest of Honour and Functional President respectively.

The prize distribution function was also held during the closing ceremony of the district youth festival held at Hoikhonei Memorial Auditorium Hall at Thangkanphai in Saikul Sub Divisional Headquarters.

As part of the District Youth Festival, competitive events including Inter Schools Sports, Young Artists (painting), and Young Writers (Poem writing) on the topic of unsung heroes/freedom movement/cultural heritage/unity in diversity/India@2047, Mobile Photography (landscape/nature/architecture), Declamation on the topic India@2047, and Cultural dance were also conducted.

In inter-school sports competitions, events such as football both boys and girls, volleyball both boys and girls, badminton, Marathon race, 100m race, relay race, shot put, javelin throw, high jump, and long jump were held at different venues such as Saikul block ground, PM Turf, N.G. Phainom ground, Saikul village ground, and Model School campus.

Winners of all the events were awarded cash prizes and a certificate each.

Addressing the mammoth gathering at the closing ceremony, Saikul MLA Kimneo Haokip Hangshing expressed her deep gratitude to the NYK and KSO Saikul for organizing such an inspiring youth festival at the district level where the youths of the district have the opportunity to showcase their hidden talents and expose the beauty and unity in diversity of the district.

The MLA also said that such an event could nurture positive thinking among the youth and it could be an ambassador for harmonious and peaceful coexistence in the long run while motivating the youths of the district to live a healthy life and render all effort for a better Kangpokpi and Saikul in particular.

KSO Saikul President, Lamgouthang Chongloi in his keynote address said that to create a spirit of love and friendship and also a competitive spirit among the youths of the district, the youth festival was organized.

He continued that the youth festival would widen the outlook of youths and students and provide a happy and cheerful atmosphere.

Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai leaders, ex-Vice Chairman of ADC Sadar Hills, Thangjakam Misao, ex-ADC Councillors, Thongjalun Mate and Thangkam Lupheng, OC Saikul PS, Insp. Suresh Anthony, 22 AR Saikul Post Commander, Capt. Bhupesh also attended the function apart from more than 900 students and youth across the district who took part in the festival.
