The civil society organisations (CSOs) of Kakching district held a general body meeting on Thursday, discussing the prevailing issue in the state caused by the ethnic clash which broke out on May 3, 2023, at Kakching Higher Secondary School.
District level committee for rejuvenating coexistence, Kakching organised the meeting to discuss the abrogation of SoO with Kuki militants, restoration of peace, settlement for displaced persons and protection and preservation of the integrity of Manipur.
The meeting also observed a two-minute silence for the lives lost, damages caused by the Kuki militants and for the torment faced by the Meitei/Meeteis including women and children during the ethnic clash.
The meeting resolved seven different decisions which include carrying out a mass public protest from Kakching District headquarter on May 27 starting from 10:00 am.

The protest will also submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister of India through DC Kakching.
The decisions taken by the meeting were - the people of Manipur to be united as one during this unfortunate time, to take a firm stand to save the integrity of Manipur, to urge the Central and state government to flush out the Kuki militants from Myanmar and to demand the abrogation of SoO with Kuki militants.
The meeting also condemned the 50 MLAs of Manipur for being silent even after the 10 Kuki MLAs demanded a separate administration from the state and demanded the MLAs to let the public know their stand to bring back peace in the state.
It also resolved to demand the government to compensate the displaced persons from the ethnic clash and to help them in returning to their respective hometowns by June 10, 2023.
District level committee for Rejuvenating co-existence, Kakching president Yengkhom Bheigyachndra, working presidents Naorem Sanjitkumar and M Sarat attended the meeting as presidium members.
