JTC demands former MLA to give public apology

The Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme people of Manipur shall be compelled to boycott him in their jurisdiction if the demand is not met, Joint Tribes Council media cell stated on Monday.

The Joint Tribes council (JTC) of Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme Naga Council has strongly condemned former MLA Samuel Jendai for his remarks on the joint tribes council and demanded a public apology from him before 12 noon of Wednesday. 

The Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme people of Manipur shall be compelled to boycott him in their jurisdiction if the demand is not met, Joint Tribes Council media cell stated on Monday.

It stated the joint tribes council of of Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme people of Manipur are compelled to issue the statement in view of the “irresponsible remarks” made by former Minister and former MLA of Tamenglong (ST) assembly constituency Samuel Jendai reportedly on 20 October at a function held at his Khumji- 5 residence, of which a video is being widely circulated in the social media. In the video, he categorically accused the public of extending ‘mateng’ (help in Meitei) to the perpetrators of Athuan Abonmai murder, it stated.

“His linking of the heinous crime with the public is a clear indication of his murderous intent, and an act of inciting violence and hatred among the public and thus uncalled for,” it further stated.

He also criticised the leaders of JTC for accepting GI Sheets and renovation works of Noney- Haochong road from the chief minister, it added.
