The Joint Tribe Council (JTC) on Thursday condemned the statement issued by one Abraham Naga under the caption ‘Naga Politics in Manipur Decoded’ carried out on social media.
A joint statement issued by Rongmei Naga Council Manipur, Zeme Naga Council Manipur, Liangmai Naga Council Tamenglong, Inpui Naga Union Tamenglong stated that the general public who came across such matters in the print media or other social media are advised not to simply believe them without proper verification and authentication they said, it further stated.
The statement alleged that Abraham Naga had criticised the Naga political issue in his article that Framework Agreement was concluded on October 31, 2019, and gave connections to other opponent organisation, it mentioned.
It stated that the historic visit of the chief of the army of the NSCN (I-M) Anthony Shimray, the ‘Longvibu’ on the December 6, 2023 at the Tamenglong District Headquarters was a long cherished dream for the Zeliangrongnpui including Kharam and Chiru people.
It was considered a highly important consultative Conclave wherein, the Naga national objectives and the substances of the Indo-Naga peace process were laid bare, it added.
The meeting served to re-strengthen the spirit of the Naga nationalism amongst the Zeliangrong people and its commitment to the ongoing Indo-Naga peace process.
During the meeting on December 6, various tribes such as The Zemes, The Liangmais, The Rongmeis, The Inpuis, The Kharams and the Chirus through their councils submitted memorandums pledging their influencing support and faith to the inclusive, honorable lasting and peaceful solution to the decades old Indo-Naga conflict based on the framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015 in the presence of the honorable prime Minister and Defence Minister of India.
The Zeliangrongnpui tribes collectively desire the purpose of such a historic and rare visit of the highest-ranking Naga Army is not projected in a wrong light and contradicted interpretation by any individual or organisation, thereby tarnishing the image of such a high profiled dignitary in the national setup of the NSCN, it stated.
“Any kind of such misinterpretation to misled the general public by publishing unconfirmed or unauthenticated information by individuals or organisations either in print-media or other social media shall stand condemned by the Zeliangrong-Inpui Nagas,” it added.
