Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Railways, on Tuesday said the Jiribam-Imphal Railway Project will be completed before the end of 2023.
Addressing the press after completion of an intellectual meet at City Convention Centre organised by BJP Manipur Pradesh, Vaishnaw said that the central government gives tremendous importance to the said project as it will bring prosperity to the state.
In order to complete the project worth Rs 14,000 crore, all possible efforts will be extended to complete it before the end of next year. However, support from the people of the state is also highly needed to fulfil the assurance, the union minister said.
Vaishnaw said a survey was carried out for this project through helicopter and identified all the difficult points. There are many challenges to complete this project but considering its significance, work will be done in parallel, i.e. day and night to complete it at the earliest, he said.
Responding to Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s request, the Union minister also said that the feasibility of railway service from Jiribam to Agartala will be observed. He also informed of the plans to upgrade the internet connectivity to the bandwidth of 10Gbps from Cox Bazaar.
This initiative was taken to make sure that each and every corner of the state would get good telecom connectivity, the minister said.
