JD (U) urges Speaker to disqualify five MLAs

Janata Dal (United), Manipur State Unit urged the Speaker to disqualify the five JD(U) MLAs who had joined BJP party.

The Janata Dal (United), Manipur State Unit has requested the speaker/chairman of Manipur Legislative Assembly for disqualification of five MLAs who were elected under the party seat but have joined the BJP.

The five MLAs who were elected under the party’s seat are Khumukcham Joykisan Singh, MLA, 9-Thangmeiband assembly constituency; Ngursanglur Sanate, MLA, 55-Tipaimuk assembly constituency; Achab Uddin, 40-Jiribam assembly constituency; Thangjam Arunkumar Singh, MLA, 15-Wangkhei assembly constituency; and LM Khaute, MLA, 58-Churachandpur assembly constituency.

In a press note issued and signed by secretary general, Janata Dal (United), Manipur State Unit M Dorendro Singh on Wednesday mentioned that “as per party’s decision, a fresh petition under paragraph 2(1)(a) and (2) of the 10th schedule r/w Article 191(2) of the Constitution of India signed by Mangsatabam Surjit, General Secretary (Organisation), Janata Dal (United), Manipur State Unit is requesting for the disqualification of five JD(U) MLAs who had joined BJP party.”

JD (U) secretary general urged the speaker/chairman, Manipur Legislative Assembly to take necessary action at the earliest in the interest of the people of Manipur.
