JD-U names six more in final list; 36 candidates to contest Manipur Assembly election 2022

The newly announced six candidates included Yumnam Santa Singh of Keirao assembly constituency and Konthoujam Manoranjan Singh of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa assembly constituency.

The Janata Dal-United (JD-U) on Wednesday announced six names in its final list of candidates. With it, a total of 36 JD-U candidates will be contesting in the coming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.

The newly announced six candidates are Yumnam Santa Singh of Keirao assembly constituency; Konthoujam Manoranjan Singh of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa assembly constituency; Md Sikander Ali of Wabgai assembly constituency; former MLA Abdul Nasir of Lilong assembly constituency; former MLA Samuel Jendai of Tamenglong AC and Ngursanglur Sanate of Tipaimukh assembly constituency.

The notification issued by the office of the core committee of Janata Dal (United) on Wednesday mentioned that the party core committee for the ongoing election to the 12th Manipur State Legislative Assembly 2022 has decided to release the second and final list of candidates for the allotment of the party symbols to the JD-U candidates.

The Manipur Legislative Assembly elections will be held in two phases - on February 27 and March 3 to elect 60 assembly members, and counting of votes will take place on March 10.
