JAC demands lands, houses and compensations for land eviction victims

A total of 417 individuals are currently taking shelter at different camps at Lilong area, said the JAC Against the Land Eviction Process of the Waithou Sangomsang Ching Areas.

The JAC Against the Land Eviction Process of the Waithou Sangomsang Ching Areas on Monday served an ultimatum to Chief Minister N Biren Singh for the assurance to provide land, houses and compensations to the evicted families by July 30.

If the government fails to provide assurance by July 30, the JAC to take up various forms of agitations such as bandh, general strike, boycott of government office, vehicles among others, said a letter submitted to the chief minister on Monday by the JAC.

The demands include providing of lands, constructions of houses, compensation of the properties destroyed and life stoke lost during eviction process and others.

The letter mentioned that the evicted families, especially children, pregnant and lactating mothers, bedridden adults are suffering a lot due to being homeless after the eviction drive.

A total of 417 individuals are currently taking shelter at different camps in Lilong area, it said, adding there have been shortages of food and medical items in the camp and the victims are continuously suffering.

Considering all the facts, the letter urged the chief minister to fulfil the demands of the JAC made on behalf of the land evicted victims to end their immense sufferings.
