The Communist Party of India - Manipur State Council (CPI-MSC) on Monday expressed grief over Israel’s retaliatory attacks on Gaza following the unprecedented attack by Hamas militants on Israel on October 7.

After Israel’s Rightist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu swore to turn Gaza into a deserted island, Israel defence force carried out heavy bombardment across Gaza in which several residential buildings including Palestinian refugee camps opened under UNO were demolished, the CPI-MSC said in a press release.

It mentioned that the Israel-Hamas war which broke out on October 7 has claimed more than 4,000 lives and over 7,000 wounded. It noted that the war affected many innocent Palestinian women and children, adding that several important mosques were also destroyed in the attacks, which still continue.

It also expressed discontentment over the inadequate reporting by Western media outlets of the Israel-Palestine conflict which has crossed 10 days. It amplified the concerns of other countries that the same is an attempt to cause a Third World War. It pointed out that Israeli troops have surrounded the Gaza border, cutting critical resources and trapping the Palestinians in Gaza in an ‘open-air prison’.

It condemned that such an act is a violation of human rights as already pointed out by the International Human Rights Commission. Israel has warned the civilians of the besieged Gaza strip to evacuate at the earliest, it said and drew the attention of all the pacifists to raise their voices against such conduct.

CPI-MSC also condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s immediate solidarity with Israel and said his move has discarded decades of India’s foreign policy with the Middle East, it mentioned. It urged the UN Security Council to convene a special meeting and resolve the ongoing conflict before further damage.
