An interaction programme cum cultural show on the theme “Unity in Diversity” was held at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya School Hall in Liwa Khullel, Sarei in Chandel district on Saturday.
Speaking at the programme, principal of the school Amarson Sankhil said that the programme is being held to spread the message of peace and unity and to show that students from 15 different communities are still getting education in the school amid the ongoing violence in the state.
He said that the education sector needs to take a major role in concluding the violence. He also appealed to all the communities to make the education sector free from all the unrest and also urged the government to end the violence at the earliest.
Students from different communities including Meitei, Tangkhul, Monsang, Chothe, Anal, Aimol, Lamkang, Maring, Kabui, Pangal and Kuki graced the programme with different cultural shows.
DC Chandel M Rajkumar, SP Chandel Hemant Pandey and school staff attended the programme. An interaction programme was also held with DC Chandel and the students.
