Interaction on climate change held

A monthly interaction programme on climate change reporting was held on Saturday at Liklai Leima, Awang Potsangbam, Imphal.

In his speech, Brajakumar Singh, director, Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, government of Manipur exhorted the climate change fellow recipients to continue to work committedly with focus on objectivity.

He also pointed out some areas including mindless burning of staple where journalists could focus on their research.

As part of the interaction programme, the media fellow recipients shared their experiences, challenges in climate change reporting and made some suggestions to better the fellowship programme.

They also pointed out data deficiency, lack of communication in accessing relevant and reliable information and topography-based support system for journalists.

Welcome note and introduction were made by Sobhapati Samom, Coordinator, Media Resource Centre.

The programme was attended by Editor of Sangai Express, Khogendra Khomdram, who is also the president of Editors Guild Manipur; Salam Rajesh-an expert member of Media Resource Centre Directorate of Environment and climate change staffs of directorate of environment and climate change, All India Radio (AIR) staff and media fellow recipients.
