Tamenglong District Health Society has launched ‘Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight’ and ‘National Deworming Week’ on Saturday.
The launching programme was held at the chief medical office complex of Tamenglong with deputy commissioner, Armstrong Pame as chief guest. Chief medical officer, Dr Chambo Gonmei, district immunization officer, Dr Sunil Kamei, district AIDS control officer, Majachungliu Gracy and other doctors also attended the launching programme.
In his chief guest speech, Armstrong Pame exhorted all health workers, ASHAs and Anganwadi workers to reach out to all the villages of Tamenglong district. He further urged them to utilise all the resources to make sure that all the children are healthy.
Dr Chambo Gonmei said that as schools and institutions have been totally closed due to pandemic COVID- 19, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers and health workers will deliver Albendazole and Zinc tablets with ORS to every house. While they deliver the medicines, they are also requested to take a household census, he added.
He also urged all ASHAs and Anganwadi workers to work sincerely while implementing the two programmes namely Intensify Diarrhoea Control Fortnight and National Deworming Week in Tamenglong.
Dr Sunil Kamei said that at least 38,923 children from newborn infant to five years old will be given Albendazole tablets while Zinc tablets will only be given when a child has diarrhoea.
