A 10-day teacher’s induction training programme under Star Education started at Kamakhya Pemton College, Hiyangthang, Langthabal on Tuesday.
The programme which will continue till February 9 is organised by Manipur Education department and it is the government’s initiative to expand to 152 new schools, equipping over 850 teachers and over 150 headmasters across different districts of Manipur.
On the occasion, acting managing director of Star Education, Manipur Ranjit Kausi said during the programme the teachers and headmasters who are participating will be provided knowledge on school management, classroom management and others that can help while teaching the pupils.
Star education is the flagship programme of the government of Manipur to transform the education system of Manipur through excellence in teaching and learning in classrooms, ensuring strong learning outcomes for children and better growth for the state. With physical upgradation underway, the government of Manipur is aiming to transform the teaching and learning across all schools in the state through Star education.
He said the star education focuses on four critical teaching skills which are implementing effective lesson delivery with the help of teacher guides, monitoring each student’s learning progress, providing feedback that drives student growth and success and motivating students to achieve both academic and behavioral excellence.
Zonal Education Officer of Imphal East, Imphal West zone-I, Bishnupur district and Kamjong along with other officials of education department also came to inspect the induction programme.
Zonal Education Officer, Imphal East, M Premchandra said the induction programme of star education is benefitting the teachers and headmasters of government schools. He said enrolment at government schools are increasing in the last few academic years. Even the government is trying to include pre-primary classes for children in addition to other classes.
For Imphal East district, the number of enrolment in government schools are increasing as compared with the previous academic years, and this will be an achievement for the state government, he added.
