Center for Community Initiative (CCI) in collaboration with the district administration of Churachandpur through their Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign organised the ‘Inclusive Children Festival 2021- Social Building Back Better’ on Tuesday at YMA Hall, Hmuia Veng Churachandpur.
The event commenced from 10.30 am with more than 10 schools participating in the painting and quiz competitions which were won by Down School and Lalpuithluaii Foundation School respectively. There was also a special item from students of The Malsawm Initiative (TMI) considered as one of the best run schools for children with special needs in Churachandpur.
Director of CCI Pauzagin Tonsing delivered the keynote address which was followed by a traditional attire show by the participating students who also presented other items. International award winning artist Zamminlun Singson was also present at the event as judge of the painting competition.
Representing the DC of Churachandpur as chief guest, the additional deputy commissioner Thangboi Gangte emphasised on the need for more platforms for inclusive students in Churachandpur highlighting its potential in comparison to other districts. “It is a challenge to all,” he added. He further said the children should also be ready to take the platform as an opportunity and make the best use of it to expound their talents while giving a message to the inclusive children that they are the future of tomorrow and urging them to come forward.
As a part of the programme, all participants took part in a batch reading 'I am for Inclusion’ with students from Gandhi memorial school and Lalpuithluaii foundation schools performing beatbox. It was followed by the prize distribution ceremony after which the participants took part in a Signature campaign and signed on a board affirming their ' Solidarity on inclusion'.
