Farmers of polling station No 16/40 under Sekmai AC in Imphal West on Monday alleged that agents of the Sekmai MLA denied them fertiliser as they did not vote for the MLA in the Manipur Assembly Election 2022.

Speaking to mediapersons, one Ningthoujam Khomei, a farmer, accompanied by his fellow farmers at Manipur Press Club in Imphal, claimed that those farmers who voted for the MLA got the fertiliser, however those who did not vote for the MLA have not received a single bag of urea till date.

As the period for applying fertiliser to the soil for this year is almost ending, the farmers, who are farming in the Khongakhul Loukol and Tairenpokpi Loukol, are in apprehension that they will not be able to harvest enough rice for livelihood due to unavailability of fertiliser.

“We have no other means to appraise our issue except drawing the attention of the authorities concerned through media,” he said, appealing to the authorities concerned to acknowledge their grievances and make available the fertilizer as soon as possible.
