Imphal: Rooftop solar panel for every community hall in Sagolband

Rooftop solar panels will be installed in every community hall in Sagolband, Imphal West, by January 2023 as a part of the Go Green Mission taken up by the Central and the state governments, Sagolband constituency MLA RK Imo Singh said on Saturday.

Singh was addressing the inaugural function of the Sagolband Mantrimayum Leikai Voluntary Organization (SMLVO) club building located at Sagolband Bijoy Leikai on Saturday. As a part of the programme, the 48th club's foundation day was also celebrated.

Attending the function as chief guest, the MLA said that various developmental programmes have been taken up in the constituency with the help and support of people.

Work for drain-to-drain black topping has started in most localities, he said, adding that construction of community halls for remaining localities, which are yet to be constructed, would be taken up too.

Singh said that considering the essence of promoting Go Green Mission in view of changing environmental scenario, street lamp of every locality would be lighted with the help of renewable solar energy.

Rooftop solar panel would be installed in all the community halls constructed in every colony of the constituency by January 2023, he said.

To materialise this, total amount of Rs 1 crore has been earmarked from the Local Area Development Fund, he said. The survey for installation of this panel is almost completed, he added.

He also said that apart from developmental works, financial assistance is also being provided under ‘MLA gi Ana Ayekki Tengbang’. Under this, as many as 125 people have availed the facilities from June, he informed.

Other dignitaries who attended the function included SMLVO president Achom Kholendro Singh; Bijoy Govinda Sevayat Committee president RK Rashmani Singh; ex-corporator of ward number 7, RK Jiten Singh; ex-corporator of ward number 10, S Tiken Singh; ex-corporator of ward number 24, G Bino as president and guests of honour respectively.
